Wine is produced on all seven continents of the world. Yes, you heard us correctly…all seven, although the likelihood of any of us seeing, let alone tasting Antarctic ice wine is about as likely as the chance of seeing Nigerian Pinot Grigio! Our portfolio spans six continents and we’re pretty happy with that.
We’ve been tasting wine, curating wine and translating wine lingo for over 20 years now and we like to think we’ve learnt a thing or two along the way. From Agiorgitiko to Zinfandel and from zesty to aromatic, our range is as eclectic as it is esoteric.
If you want the classics like Chablis, Champagne and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, we’ve got them. If it’s orange or organic wine you’re after, we’ve got those too. We also carry a decent number of popular and highly individual New World wines featuring trendier grape varieties like Cabernet Franc, Mourvèdre, Marsanne and Viognier.
We put as much time and effort into the sourcing of our bread and butter wines like Prosecco and Pinot Grigio, New Zealand Sauvignon and Chilean Merlot as we do for the rest.
From the largest commercial wineries to the smallest artisan producers, there’s a growing tendency towards sustainability and environmental-responsibility and we’re proud to represent these more conscientious producers within our portfolio.
Sustainability goes way beyond the vineyards themselves and how the wines are made. Packaging is one of the most talked about topics in the industry at the moment and the argument for alternatives to glass bottles is gathering momentum. Especially with the global shortage of glass adding further pressure.
Bag in box wines have seen a resurgence of interest, especially those containing higher quality juice. The brilliant Ananto Organic Macabeo and Bobal Tempranillo blend in 10 litre boxes are a great example that are ideal for farm shop cafés and businesses that pride themselves on their eco/green credentials.
Canned wines are also becoming more widely accepted and, again, the quality of the wines inside has improved dramatically since the first-generation canned wines were launched in 2014. Keep an eye out for these in both still and sparkling format as they’re here to stay and we’ll continue to develop our range as demand increases.
If you want to see our organic, biodynamic, sustainable, vegetarian-friendly and vegan-friendly wines, just head to the ‘Feature’ option of the search filter. And if award-winning wines are just as important to you, we have a section for these too.
By working closely with our suppliers, we’re able to keep at the forefront of the wine scene and are always happy to share the latest market trends and discuss innovative new products that will appeal to the ever-more discerning and eco-conscious consumer.
