What's on our Christmas table?

Christmas Day The Inn Express Way! What will we be drinking on the big day…
It may be all hands to the pumps at Inn Express HQ right now, what with Christmas just a matter of days away, but one thing you can be sure of is that we’re already thinking about how we’re going to unwind with our favourite festive tipples. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll all be shared with the rest of the visiting family and guests, and do you know what, it’s totally okay to be slightly selfish here. After all, the elders or legal juniors with their sweet teeth will most likely be getting their festive kicks from cream sherry and fruit ciders, respectively!
So let’s cut to the chase and see what we’ll be uncorking, unscrewing or pulling on the big day and why…
Dennis Hall, Chairman
“All being well, we plan to have our Christmas meal at one of our client’s Cotswold hotels where I’ll enjoy a pint of London Pride and Pam will enjoy her favourite ever-Treeee Light Tonic.”
Fingers crossed that plans for the on-trade aren’t scuppered at the hands of the dreaded ‘C-word.
Rich Hall, Managing Director
“I’m looking forward to getting stuck into a warming bottle of ‘Don’t Tell Gary Shiraz’ from McPherson Wines. It’s become a firm favourite for Tash and I and we love the story behind the name too!”
For anyone curious, this was a wine that McPherson’s winemaker Jo Nash singled out from an exceptional vineyard site, hand-crafted using low intervention techniques, and basically stuck into some expensive oak barrels to mature without telling the bean counters!
Lee Kent, Marketing Manager
“I thoroughly intend to indulge in a selfish brew or two. It’ll be a toss-up between a Salt Ikat or a Vocation Smash and Grab.”
We’ll put our odds on them both making the cut, and it is Christmas after all…
Andy Lawton, Sales Director
“It’s got to be Santa Macarena Pinot Noir for us. It’s a great crowd-pleaser and should be perfect with the Christmas meal.”
This Chilean Pinot is a single-vineyard wine from a cool, coastal vineyard in the Aconcagua Valley and is a brilliant value for money. I can vouch for the fact that this is a Lawton favourite since I introduced it to him during my Alliance days. Cheers, Andy!
Thea Dudley, Customer Services
“We’ll be kicking off with Prosecco and then there’ll be red wine with lunch, probably an Aussie Shiraz. There’s bound to be a cheeky Almond Bailey’s or two after the meal!”
A Christmas without Bailey’s would be like Midnight Mass without carols…enough said!
Jack Davies, Distribution Manager
“My choice of drink would be an Australian Shiraz – Don’t Tell Gary to be specific. However, if we do manage to get to the local, I’ll be enjoying a pint of Asahi.”
McPherson’s cleverly branded Shiraz is clearly a hit with the IE team. But don’t tell Gary, or his head will swell until it explodes!
Amie Reynolds, Sales Ledger
"Post the obligatory strong morning Coffee, we usually start our Christmas Day off with a buck’s fizz, favouring a hearty Dolci Colline Prosecco to OJ ratio. To accompany lunch I’ve decided that the only option this year is Biscardo Mabis Neropasso Rosso, a superb, well-rounded crowd-pleaser of a red. Then to fend off the after-dinner slump I shall be mixing up a few Espresso Martinis with Conker’s Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur."
Paul Wilkin, Purchasing Director
"With my job I get a huge amount of samples to choose from (tough job) but lately, I cannot get enough of Biscardo Neropasso, a delicious Red blend from Veneto. I imagine Taylors LBV will feature later in the day with a selection of cheese."
It certainly seems like good news travels fast and many of our team will be drinking very similar wines
